Ssssoooooo I've been putzing around with the new comp going on 3 days now, The new Corsair Carbide Quiet 600Q case; though nice, is no where near as user friendly as the old rig's Corsair Obsidian. The side panels are fastened with thumb screws, as opposed to push button release, and the internal component arrangement is much more obstructed than in the old rig. Anyway...............got the GPUs swapped; they're both working fine in their new homes; transferred the sound card and SSD storage drive into the new rig, and put the TB HDD back in the old rig and formatted it.
The new comp recognizes the storage SSD, but because none of the games on it were installed on this OEM Windows, none of them are tied into the Windows Registry; giving me all kinds of error messages about missing .dlls and such. I got Kingdom Come Deliverance to run in Steam but it can't detect any of my saved progress and only gives the option of a new game . All my Ubi games won't even start. Transferred all my mod folders and any game folders with installed mods onto my back up drive; along with my Ubi saved games (yea I know there's the Ubi cloud saved games too). Reformatted my storage SSD; did a fresh Uplay install and am DLing (capped at 8MBs/sec) and installing GRW now as a test run (no mods in it so it should be pretty straight forward----I hope) for the new rig. Tuesday's coming up fast, if you haven't been keeping track! If the GRW test run goes OK; I'll likely preorder FC 5 (standard edition) tonight or tomorrow!
Still got to re-enable the on board sound on the old rig, and I'm leaning towards reformatting the OS SSD, and doing a fresh Windows install. I hate computers!
New Specs:
Win 10 Home 64
Intel i7 8700K 3.7 GHz hex core OCed to 4.7GHz
Digital Storm 240mm all in one sealed CPU cooler (4 120mm fans-2 blow through; 2 pull through)
ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-H MB
Surprise! Z370 chipset
32 GB dual channel DDR4 3000
PNY 11GB GTX 1080Ti into a Viewsonic 2K 144Hz G Sync display
Sound Blaster Z into an Onkyo AV receiver/Klipsch RP 5.1 speakers
500GB OS SSD & 1TB storage SSD
Optical multi drive
Corsair RM850X PSU
140mm exhaust fan
Hi speed LAN card
buncha USB 3 and 2 ports
UPDATE: Works good (GRW). A re-format and fresh install does clean up a lot of issues! Really looking forward to DLing and installing all my other games too!
