I know it's been mentioned that some strange things will happen once engaging in Faith's region, but this REALLY surprised me:
Very, very early upon entering (hadn't even gotten 100 resistance points yet) came across a possible civilian rescue opportunity, and as I was releasing the "victim" noticed, too late, that she wasn't quite normal, and thus started "Leap of Faith".
Thought, ah s**t, where's this going to end up and why so soon?
I'm sure it's scripted that you end up just north of the Hope County Jail, yes?
Thus I'm quite far from my entry point, near Dutch's island. I stupidly then got caught up in the scripted "arrival" at the Jail, with no backup save to re-load prior to this mess. Had no idea that this activity was going to be pre-scripted.
Not to bore anyone, but just wondering if anyone else got this Faith mission early on when in her region?

Yep but I only got because I interacted with Faith. She will "appear" (along with lots of other crazy random seeming shit) occasionally to try and drive the story along. You can avoid it for a while.
Each region has a different mechanism for sucking you into the scripted sections and they do occasionally dump you further than you intended. Hers is probably the most jarring I think.
My advice is play through her region a bit to get a feel for what is going on and then decide if you want to spend hours experiencing this or try one of the other regions. John and Jacobs region are a bit more "direct" and typical of the Far Cry experience.
I think the games intended path is John - Faith - Jacob - Joseph which is how I decided to do my first playthrough, but you can indeed tackle it all however you want. I think that aspect was particularly well crafted and implemented. In fact I think it would have been just as enjoyable to have an additional set of 3 subregions each with lesser bosses the way Bolivia is sectioned out in GRW. That could have fine tuned the RP bars a bit more.
My biggest complaint is that every little thing you do moves the RP bars up which hurries the playthrough of the region. Apparently you can actually MISS side content because the RP bar has filled up due to stopping convoys and rescuing prisoners. It's a neat concept, but I think it needs a bit more fine tuning...
I'm not 100% sure though. Probably take a few more playthroughs before "what triggers what" and the best courses of action are apparent.

Scripted captures and imprisonments you can't avoid, AND teleportation to a remote location (completely interrupting YOUR plan)after an unwanted scripted event/dream sequence! I'd pay extra for that!

I'd just like to wrap up by a follow-up question. By "interacting with Faith" I assume means something will take place that you can't avoid at the pre-determined scripted point. Or is it possible to interact with this pixie stardust Faith who starts popping up as soon as you cross into her region of "influence"? I've either ignore it, or simply put a bullet into the floating image that's distracting me from whatever it was I needed to do.
BTW, after re-gaining control at the jail, I took the helo (not doing FT if at all possible) and flew north to an entry point for Jacob's region. Going to ignore doing anything in Faith's region for now.
I also didn't realize, until after the jail "liberation" fiasco that each region has its own resistance, more or less.

Yeah I shot her too, but the first (or second?) time I walked up to her to see what the deal was an it offers you an interact prompt. Ultimately though if you continue to ignore her you will eventually be roped into the bliss anyway.

Ah, I see. Never thought about attempting to communicate with the fairy-dust sister. So the game can also get you as it did me (well, if I hadn't rushed to release this "victim" it wouldn't have ...)

Is there an option to join the cult? Might be an interesting alternative. After my last encounter with Faith I needed an adrenalin injection to save my life, but I just cannot help myself, I have to see what happens when you talk to her ghost

Your on the writing team, kid........get cracking on FC 6!

Yeah Mike the endings are... well you know better than to get too excited for the end of a Far Cry game right?
Of course some people may like them.
Some people also like eating broken glass and watching a marathon of Plan 9 From Outer Space with the sound turned off. I try not to judge.
Props for Ubi trying something different anyways. I get why people either love it or hate it.
BTW both endings are COMPLETELY different. Don't care for either one, but they are both worth experiencing since they don't have a lot to do with one another.

I love just wandering around in a big open world, picking and choosing what I want to do and bought this game on the basis that I would be able to do just that. But oh no you are not allowed to do that, some goon squad will fill you full of bliss and haul you off. One reply to that article says that this can happen 9 times, I have only endured 2 so far so I've got another 7 to look forward to. Is there any part of this so called open world where I can roam without being kidnapped?

Yeah this is mainly an issue due to everything you do pushing the RP bar forward and hitting those story triggers. I'm hoping in the future RP points can be modded in a way to allow only story based missions (and to a lesser degree clearing outposts) to move the RP bar. While the resistance points concept sounds neat it's function is really only to trigger story cutscenes and a few more difficult spawns (as difficult as they get in this game anyways...)

They (Ubi) sure enough trashed the "open world" play your own game style thing. There I was.................flying along in my new helicopter; on my way to kick the stuffing out of an enemy encampment, when WWHHSSHH THUK! I"m shot by a drugged arrow, and snatched out my chopper for another blurred "Jacob" cut scene followed by a shoot house run, and a depositing and groggy awakening on the ground far far away in another galaxy ...........................oops! Wrong memory. In a completely different part of the map from where I'd been flying my tissue paper helicopter! All I can do is hang my head in shame around the other Militia Members now. Seriously??!! These snatch and grab cut scenes are bad enough, but out of a (to quote Willis) gosh darn, pardon my French, helicopter in mid air?! WOW! Anyway..........................most egregious snatch and grab for me so far!

Seriously, I'm thinking of not even getting to the first levels of RP in any of the regions; just roam the country-side discovering points of interest and see what the game has to offer in the way of possible goodies. Definitely keeping track of where armor vests/med kits can be found. Noticed that they do not appear to re-spawn, which was the case in the initial release of FC3 but changed with one of the patches.
