Quotes From the developers:
- "Far Cry New Dawn is the direct narrative sequel to Far Cry 5 in the sense that we are coming back to Hope County 17 years later"
- "The player is a new player character coming to Hope County for the first time." (we are NOT the Rook)
- "Boomer is dead."
New Features:
- "Epic Boss Animal" fights (this is probably along the lines of the bliss infected animal quests from FC5)
- Home Base called "Prosperity" that you can improve and build. Has eight facilities: the workbench, training camp (to train Guns for Hire), explosives lab, infirmary, garage, healing garden, cartography, and expeditions (to go on mission outside of Hope County).
Not 100% sure, but it looks like Prosperity is to the far south west of John's region roughly where "Seed ranch" was located which is in the vicinity of Nick Rye's old place and Lamb of God Church (where you first met Grace Armstrong)... though from the map shown I don't think either of those places still exist (or they are in ruins) - Kicking in doors. (Technically you can kick since Far Cry 4 by simply looking down and hitting melee but there seems to be a strong implementation of it in New Dawn where you are required to destroy glass and wood barriers to get through some areas)
- Kids confirmed (in Far Cry 5 there was a conspicuous absence of children).
- Mission outside of Hope County are available to "memorable locations across the USA including wetlands, canyons, and coastal regions". One area shown is "Five Stars Theme Park" in Lousiana (Far Cry'answer to Six Flags?)
Two additional locations mentioned in another article are a decrepit Navajo Bridge littered with abandoned cars in Arizona, and the infamous Alcatraz prison situated on a rocky island. Also a youtuber commented that there was a mission aboard a "big ship" so possibly another of the coastal locations.
"Creative Director Jean-Sébastien Decant wouldn’t reveal how many expeditions would appear in Far Cry New Dawn, but he’s adamant that there will be quite a few."
The locations can be revisited and "level up" with up to 3 difficulty levels. There is also apparently some randomization of enemies, loot and extraction points each time they are played. - Mission progression no longer moves the story forward instead upgrading your homebase progresses the story. So now we will have more control of how fast we want to play through the game.
- Return of the Knife Takedowns!
- Respawning Bases that get harder (they have 3 levels of difficulty)
- Supposedly no more kidnappings (thank the Father!)
- Third Person view of the character as you enter your home base.
- Trike (probably just replaces the tuk-tuk) and a motorcycle with a sidecar (so Doge can ride along). So we are "kind of" finally getting a motorcycle...
- Weapons are all "signature weapons" in that the attachments are already set on them. They can be replaced by more powerful versions. This means you can't buy specific attachments for weapons (silencers, specific scopes, etc).
Melee Weapons:
- Fists
- Baseball Bat (called Old Wood Bat in crafting menu)
- Knife (with Takedowns!)
- Pipe (both Makeshift Bolted Pipe and Optimized Socked Pipe are seen in game crafting menu)

- Bait

- Remote Explosives
- Smoke Grenades
- Throwing Knives
Launchers:
- M-79
- RAT4 (the deluxe edition comes with a special skin for the RAT4 called "Blast Off")

- .44 Magnum (called "Guerilla-Gear" .44 MAGNUM in crafting menu)

Characters:
- Carmina Rye - Gun for Hire (Nick and Kim Rye's Daughter now all grown up... she is an assaulter who can also throw dynamite. Note "Carmina" was the name of Nick's plane - his other love)
- Gian Guerra - Gun for Hire (a heavy gunner - has unlimited ammo and explosive ammo)
- Horatio the boar - Fang for Hire (aka "Cheesburger 2.0" - a huge wild boar)
- Hurk - Gun for Hire (is Hurk immortal? Does this kid ever age? Are there a lineage of Hurks? Hurk clones? Hurklings?)
- Irwin Smalls - an NPC you meet who is a Highwayman. He has you fight in a local arena called "the pit".
- Mickey and Lou - The twin leaders of the Highwaymen who are the evil raiders trying to take over Hope County.
- Mysterious Masked Stranger - Gun for Hire (no idea who this is or what their official name is yet - my personal theory is this is actually the Rook from Far Cry 5 hiding his/her identity from everyone... although they carry a bow so it does fit Jess Black very well too or it could be Grace Armstrong or even someone altogether new)
- Nana - Guns for Hire sniper (a sniper - she has silent weapons and her shots can pierce through cover. She looks like an older version of Hurk's mom Adelaide Drubman or possibly Mary May though Mary May would be middle aged and not an old woman... could be another character or a new one altogether)
- Nick Rye - possibly appears. His image is seen in some preview art and there is a scruffy fellow who looks a bit like Nick seen in the trailer defending an outpost.
- Pastor Jerome - Gun for Hire (wonder what he thinks about religion now... and about the Father's prophesies)
- Roger Cadoret - a helicopter pilot from Quebec who carries you and your guns/fangs for hire out to various expedition side missions (presumably you need to build the expeditions addon for your base). His Heli is named Grosse Patate (The Big Potato).
- Timber - Fang for Hire (aka Doge aka "Boomer 2.0"). Just like Boomer he can tag enemies, retrieve guns and loot and intercept animals who are trying to attack you.
Vehicles:
- 3 Wheeled Trikes (preordering the game will net you an exclusive "Unicorn Trike" skin (barf).
- Compact and standard cars (Stryus)
- Helicopter (H-158) - Roger Cadoret pilots one. No idea yet if helicopters (or ANY air vehicles) are available to the players or enemies.
- Motorcycle with sidecar
- Muscle car
- Pick up trucks
- Sedans (Darrala)
- Semi Trucks (only the "Big Rig" cabs shown so far not the whole 18 wheeler trailer)
