So I finished the previous game i was playing and I'am back to get my moneys worth out ol' Far Cry 4. Hopefully the stuttering is gone. Excited for the changes to the mod, looks like I'am in for a treat. Good job guys!
Anyways, I'am here to ask if there is about to be an update, that is not save game compatible or has heavily significant changes, any time soon. So i can get started without worrying about having to start again.
Oh, and Jravens, that offer to get you a game still stands. Problem is I'am saving for a new computer so every dollar is important. Is there any Indi or just cheap games that you have an eye on? Should have took advantage of the summer sale. Even still It probably won't be right away, unless maybe there is a good sale or a proper opportunity, perhaps the fall sale. I will be checking out the forum often into the future, so let me know. Another thing, can you gift steam games that you already own?
Lastly, is the DLC worth picking up, especially the Hurk one. The others can wait since they are not part of the main playthrough. I'am a little OCD when it comes to having all the available DLC that adds to gameplay. However, as i mentioned every dollar is essential.
Well, here i go!

Hello again and welcome to the new forums! Glad to hear you are going to try another go with FC4. It IS a good game. Of course modded it's even better Bontainer has created and been maintaining the Nightmare version so I'll let him reply about it's current state/future but he's always tinkering with it so I'm sure there will plenty more coming. For the most part saves are pretty good WITHIN a single mod. So saves you make with the Nightmare mod now should be pretty safe with future updates. The only time it becomes an issue is when we muck around with player centric stats like XP and Karma levels. Maybe a future update might explore changing skills and maybe that might not play will with old saves. Can't really say, but we're not at that point anyway. Changes to things like guns, enemies and so forth are generally pretty safe. My golden rule is to always back your saves up and before installing any new version to make sure you are NOT in a mission currently and at a safehouse somewhere where you save and exit. This generally makes the save as compatible as possible. PS - many of us make multiple folders (heck I even keep mine right inside the save directory) and name them things like "first outpost cleared no skills assigned", "after act 2 p416 with silencer", etc. Just make up folders and copy your save files right into them as you go. Thanks for the game offer, but it's completely not necessary I have a HUGE backlog on steam as it is and I've set aside games that I started and want to finish like Dying Light and Witcher 3. I'm really trying to stay focused and spend my time immersed around Far Cry for the next few months. At least until I get all the older mods updated and help these guys with as much knowledge as I can. Maybe I'll even sneak in one or 2 more secret projects Once some of the E3 games start coming out I'll probably slip and become distracted by those (Metal Gear, Fallout 4, and some of the other games I've posted in the other games section of the forums). Ravens like shiny things.

So many games, so little time. At least we are revitalizing PC gaming. Recently bought Endless Space and Sins of a Solar Empire during the summer sale. Looks like there's some interesting mods available. Also I've yet to start Witcher 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition properly, probably without mods. Then there's the massive mod Caveman to Cosmos for Civilization 4 and The Community Mod for Civilization 5.
Perhaps a DLC then? This could be token care of soon.Secret Projects! Quite a year, or so, ahead of us indeed! I'am very intrigued by which direction VR goes. This is why my purpose in life right now is centered around a new computer. How's your newer rig been holding up?

Sins is one of my all time favourites, I am usually playing Entrenchment with the Distant suns mod. There is also a very nice Star wars mod for Rebellion available.
Concerning save games there is no REAL problem there, there will be no crashes or CTDs. The only thing causing trouble is the modified XP and Karma system in Hardcore or Nighmare. The effect will be that you will probably stay on the current level for a VERY long time and have readouts like 18900/2000 or such. Thats because the treshholds for the levels have risen considerably and the game will collect XP until the new threshhold is reached and then things go back to normal. Same for Karma.
Concerning my Nightmare mod I am right now busy cleaning house, adjusting the weapon data (as realistic as possible) and revamping the signature weapons, but that could take some time.
