I may be out of line (excuse the font size...eyes) but at 83 YO I play SP FC4 and as I have finished the main game I now use other's creations in Map Browser. It frustrates me to find a good game and play it for quite some time with no opportunity to save. I am hoping that someone knows how to tweak a save in those games (outpost, assault, etc) Or, politely, just tell me where to go.... to find a save system! I would also appreciate help in breaking away from Steam system!(:-) It costs me bigtime when one has a limited download server!!! And don't ask me why I don't play on line! Try doing that with a download limit of 8GBs a month!!! Thanks fellas...Australia is a great place to mature...but not online!

Your savegame will be in Ubisoft/Ubisoft Game Launcher/...gibberish.../856
Just create a new folder in the ...gibberish.. directory. I use 856 and a description, e.g. 856 After 08 End of Act One. This way you can create as much saves as you like.
I attached some saves as an example.

Thanks Bontainer, I'm pleased to get a reply but must now exhibit dumbness! I am lost when you write "gibberish" as being part of the folder name or whatever. Please explain. I gather you mean that I create a folder in that directory named (say) 856 and then direct my saves to that folder..... but how do I create a save in the middle of someone else's game (outpost etc) Sorry...but I'm an old player...not an IT youngster! THEN (assuming I can do what you say) how do I play that save as there is no obvious menu that contains "load save x " etc Maybe I should just stop being frustrated at the lack of ability to save and grit my teeth when I die a minute before the game is completed after an hour's play! Hi speedian and welcome to the forums Alas there is no save system for custom maps. I *might* be able to mod something for this, but not sure as it's something we've never messed with... I know a guy name Fino found a way to incorporate single player stuff in the editor like skills, leveling up, etc. Not sure if he got the save system working, but I think I know which file he was messing with (\engine\gamemodes\gamemodesconfig.xml) so I can at least take a look at it. I have NO idea if or how this would work... experimentation would be necessary to see what the engine allows. When bontainer says gibberish in the file path he means that every persons game has a random string of characters in the save game file path. So yours might be C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\145f95a3-09cd-48be-bbee-622dabd29220\420 - basically all that stuff after \savegames\ is unique to each person. Of course those save games are just for the single player game as I said so unless we could figure out how to enable saving in custom maps then it may not help much. Good to know where they are none the less and as bontainer says it's a good habit if you play the single player campaign to periodically make copies of your saves. In terms of breaking away from Steam - even if you bought the game from Steam it will still install and require you to use Uplay. I wouldn't even bother starting steam up and just launch Uplay and start Far Cry 4 from there. Note however uplay requires an online connection as well... if you block Uplay somehow you might still be able to play Far Cry 4... it will probably complain that you have to play offline, but so what since you want to play it offline anyway. Not being able to play online however will prevent you from being able to browse and play the custom maps since those come from the Ubisoft servers. Also if you have limited download per month be aware that every new custom map you play is being pulled across the internet to you. I'm not sure how big those are and what kind of impact it would have on your monthly data usage.

Yup - some of us wish we were still 50! I reckon you have the club record, Speedy! I thought I was about the oldest bugger here, but I think TakeOut is 73 or so.
Here's my Far Cry4's normal save folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\3281115e-91f5-4ecd-beb4-77f45ca9562e\420 <-- 420 is automatically used all the time. Every now and then I make another folder - say "At Banapur after the raid", and then copy the two (or four) files into it. I have about ten altogether. I normally copy and save the regular one any time I pop in a different save - then (I recommend) actually deleting - not copying over - the original one before I put in the new one. I also do this in the offline mode.
JRavens has a start file which opens the game after all the original start-up nonsense is done with, called simply "1.10 Start". You can download it and keep it in the same savegames folder with your others, as you make them, and stick it in place if you want to start a new game, such as when trying out a mod.
Anyway - here's another "Welcome" for ya!
All the Best,
pj

Great to see you are (mostly) mature aged and still going for it! Thanks for the details. I understand that there are no current ways to save in custom maps (SP) so I will await some brilliant mind with a better memory than mine (currently) to discover this key. It Does get frustrating to discover a well planned and detailed custom map and to struggle through to what appears to be the BOSS situation or at least almost "there" only to be overwhelmed or scratch your nose at the wrong instant and have to play through hours of "foreplay" to get there again. I thankyou in advance if anyone goes to the trouble and hope it is successful. I will watch from Oz. Oh yes... the custom maps are quite small in Mbs or Kbs...I have no problem with that download volume...It's only when they pop auto updating onto me that often is many GBs!!! Peeves me immensely as It throws my limit into the wind.As an OA pensioner it's pretty bloody hard to make the monthly pays just for the 8GBs. But it's a bloody sight better than mindless TV ads and (sorry) US (and Pommie) crap soapies and series of questionable intelligence. 'Bah Humbug! Speedian

!!!! Wot??? Wot??? Egads!! Crap soapies??? That sounds like a thinly-veiled slur against one of Britain's finest artistic reflections of "What it is to be British"! - "Coronation Street" - the epitome of British entertainment for the masses! How can one not recognise the incredible acting performances... the thought-provoking dialogues... the stirring music... the scenic vistas of quaint English homes, comfortably nestled in that picturesque countryside..... What more could a person want in a "soapie"!!! I think you're just jealous because any talent which may have existed in Australia has been put to rest by the droning tones of the Didgeridoo, the lack of British Beer, Rolf Harris's "art" displays, an upside-down environment, along with endless videos of sheep- shagging er.. shearing contests or Koala bears chewing on eucalyptus leaves! But seriously... (really?) ... 8 gig a month must suck big-time. As a comparison - I'm a pensioner too, but here - in the country, some 50 miles north-east of Toronto - we're still on copper, so limited to about 5Mb(bits) per second, with a package limit of 40 gig per month for $48 Can. and it's very livable. Fiber is on it's way, but not but not in our area yet. Here is the most recent posted list for the fiber options. Choose the speed that suits your needs. Up to 15Mbps from $39.95/mo. Up to 25Mbps from $39.95/mo. Up to 50Mbps from $49.95/mo. Up to 150Mbps from $59.95/mo. Up to 300Mbps from $69.95/mo. Up to 940Mbps from $149.95/mo. Sorry about the savegame situation. All of the FarCry savegames have the same stupid method - either a tower or an outpost. Almost every other game uses an F4 - F5 or F9 to do the trick, and it opens where you were last standing. Given the number of experts I know about - that haven't fixed this - I doubt if we'll ever see it fixed. Makes you want to go an' watch an Australian soapie with a Cooper's Original, doesn't it... ATB, pj

I'll probably be looking into this too. But a true savegame system may be hard to implement, I think the more reasonal alternative would be to create a LUA script for invoking (temporary?) god mode or something that triggers when a playerpawn is about to die, along with adding a custom inventory item that says "Number of Deaths" for each 'death'. Then if we can invoke that count at the completion of a map, we could have something.
