Hi folks!
It's recently come to my attention that I've not been forthright about the current state of my mods and my intentions with them, etc. In particular the Far Cry 4 mods which I'm sure bring most people to this site.
Currently I am working on some mods for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
I am NOT actively working on Far Cry 4 (or 3) mods at this current moment.
The only Far Cry 4 mod which has active development is the Nightmare mod by bontainer who maintains that particular mod when he has time. If he is no longer currently working on it then I will update this thread to reflect that.
When will I return to Far Cry modding? I honestly don't know. I have no set timeline or ETA. It could be next week, next month or next year. I realize this is disheartening as some of the mods are still not compatible with the latest update from Ubi (v1.10) and some of them still seem to be exhibiting bugs (eagles in open world, etc.) The truth is I work on what interests me or what is "fun" for me to mod and FC4 has no longer become fun. It's a chore. A chore I do not enjoy.
To make matters worse Ubisoft has given no indications that there will be anything else for Far Cry 4 (not that they are obligated to give us anything else) SO without the prospect of anything new and having to go through the same old lines of code over and over again trying to fix problems that I've already fixed numerous times... well it's just not something I want to bother with right now. I am sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings.
I was also called out on the carpet about making a lot of excuses (which I DO frequently because I don't like to disappoint people and very often I have good intentions that get wrecked by my less than stellar work ethics - I'm lazy, easily distracted, easily frustrated and easily bored. I'm convinced I have undiagnosed ADHD which I managed to muddle through childhood with, but which clearly impacts my adult life).
It was pointed out that I will say things like "I don't have that much time to mod" and then I make something for a different game or I post a long winded review about a game, etc.
Guys honestly I'm just like you. If any of you are not retired and still working with a full house of kids and family or you can remember back to those days when you did then you will understand when I say my days are long, my stress level is high and when I finally get home late in the evening each day I am mentally and physically "burnt out" and the last thing I want to do is look at blurry lines of the same code I've been combing through for almost a year now. I want to PLAY games and get that endorphin release OR IF I am going to mod I want to do it with something new and fresh and interesting and FUN!
I am not yet ready to call it quits here. I'm not grabbing my hat and walking out the door. I still want this to be a Far Cry community, but I'm also hoping it will be much more then that (despite what it says up there at the top of the screen). I want it to be a gaming community of friendly folks who like hanging out and talking about games and mods for the those games. I've "e-met" a lot of nice people here and I'm so very thankful that you come by and post and participate regularly. I hope you won't stop coming by. I really do.
If you're only here for the Far Cry mods I do understand and I hope you won't delete this bookmark or leave and never return. I hope you'll stop back periodically to see if there's any news or updates of things pertaining to Far Cry and the mods.
In the mean time I AM STILL HERE and will be still be posting and reading so feel free to continue to do the same. You are of course ALWAYS welcome to ask me anything about the mods, games and anything else. No one will be "bugging me" in the least to check up on the current status and if it's changed of if there's anything new to report.
Thank you all so much and -
