I am trying to figure out how to edit the weapon fov values. i downloaded gibbed tools but i can't unpack the patch files, it just crashes. Thank you for the help

Dunia2Tools: Here is (my) link to the v179, b116 version of the toolset, along with the Project files. You can place the tools anywhere you wish, but I would strongly suggest that you place the gibbed_fc4project.zip into the {chosen folder name}\bin\projects\ folder - and then unzip it in that folder. Doing that will create the correct files and folders, already having the "current.txt" pointing correctly, with a Far Cry 4.xml there too. Once this is done you need to run the {chosen folder name}\bin\RebuildFileLists.exe to... aah... rebuild the file lists... You should have no further issue when packing or unpacking, using ConvertXml.exe or using the ConvertBinaryObject.exe. Unpacking the patch_hd.dat gave me the __UNKNOWN folder, with just gfx and unknown present. For the other files - just unpack the patch.dat and pull them out - you'll find them all there. In most of the FC4 mods - these are already there for you. Ask again if you don't quite understand these steps. Ok! pj

Let say you want to change AK47 fov:
1.Search the entity for it (171144368018084255.ark.xml) and open it
2.Search <field name="fNearFovDegrees" type="Float32">65</field>
3.Change it, save, compile and test.

OK. I managed to unpack patch.dat but the weapon files aren't there (ex. 171144368018084255 for the AK) Edit: they ARE there, just using the search bar does not find them for some reason. however when I convert the .ark.fcb file I get a .ark_converted.xml and I can't change any fov values, and when i try to change a different set of .xml files (i downloaded them from a different thread) i get an .rml file. Edit 2: ok, i have been practicing a bit, is there any way to speed up the packing process?

Hi bg: Go to the "Modding 100 Tools" thread, - farcrymods.freeforums.net/thread/376/modding-100-toolsand download Janne252's Archetype Browser, plus it's library of over 9000 ark.xml files, and then also Razor's Data Conversion Utility. (It's not in that thread, but if you can't find it, I'll post it on my Dropbox.. Soo.. You search the downloaded ark. XML files, using the Archetype Browser first, then copy that file to your (new) entityarchetypeslibrary folder. Open that xml (for the weapon you want to change) using Notepad++. This is about the best tool you'll ever use to edit most of FC's xml files. Do your thing with it, save it, select it - then slide it over and drop it onto the Dunia2 Tools \bin\Gibbed.Dunia2.ConvertBinaryObject.exe file. This will create a (filename). ark_converted.fcb file. (171144368018084255.ark_converted.fcb, in the case of the AK) You then simply remove the "_converted" part of the extension, and Voila! You now have a modified archetype file. When you've finished editing the object_inventory or any of the archetype files (for e.g) follow the same process - drag and drop patch_hd_unpack folder onto the Dunia2Tools \bin\Pack.exe, and it will automagically create the new unpack files for you. This should not take more than a few seconds. Last - I use a batch file to copy the two new files to the game folder. Create it with Notepad, or some such text editor, then rename it with a ".bat" extension. I place and run this file under the patch_hd_unpack folder, running it once the Dunia2 Tools command window closes. The script below needs to be edited to reflect your drive letters. My FC4 is on the F drive, with the work files on the G drive. (five drives) CD ..\ copy .\patch_hd_unpack.* "F:\FarCry 4"\data_win32\. F: CD "F:\FarCry 4"\data_win32\ copy patch_hd_unpack.dat patch_hd.dat copy patch_hd_unpack.fat patch_hd.fat del patch_hd_unpack.*at :EOF

Got it!! thank you so much! what i was doing wrong was pretty simple. i was placing my edited xml files into the patch.dat folder and packing that, instead of placing it into the pacth_hd.dat folder. One more question, I would also like the to change the fov for cars (especially the gyrocopter), and when grappling. I think i will post what i can finish for everyone else to download. Edit (sorry): I am running into a new issue, I am trying to edit an existing mod, but each time i convert the .fcb files, my .xml files are just full of binhex entries.

About he gyrocopter I dont know, I guess you have to check its .xml file. I never convert .fcb files, I always take a base files from library of 9000 ark.xml files (dont modify the originals) and edit from it.
