I'm not falling in love at all with the direction Ubisoft apparently has taken the basic Far Cry premise ...

Looks good to me. Going to be just a retread of the formula with a few new twists, but I'll find it interesting none the less. Graphics look good (if they don't downgrade as usual...)
We still got a lonnnnggg way until release...

Nice. So I paused in several places to look at some of the overlays. This is early gameplay so clearly subject to change, but some things I noticed: * The weapon wheel slot had 8 weapons. The four "corner" slots held pistol, SMG (Mac-10? So probably also considered in the pistol slot class of Far Cry), dynamite and what appeared to be a repair torch again. * Dynamite was shown as taking up a weapon wheel slot so that's interesting. Maybe the FC5 loadout will be 4 slots of any combo of rifles/heavy weapons/melee weapons and 4 slots of pistols/special/explosives. I think if they went that way it's a fairly interesting way to customize the arsenal. You still will be carrying a ridiculous amount of ordnance (of course ). Even though Dynamite took up a weapon wheel slot it was displayed in the corner as a throwable above the primary ammo counter. * The baseball bat was shown in the wheel with what looked like an ammo count of 4/4. This did not go down after execution kills so I'm assuming this isn't some kind of "durability" but rather much like Primal you can have up to 4 baseball bats and throw them. Which is a little silly, but I get it - they want to give us pitchforks and sledgehammers to throw. * At one point the player jumps off a building and a prompt to parachute pops up. Interesting that it doesn't say wingsuit. I'm guessing we will have parachuting with some measure of control for long slow descents. Go up in a plane and bail out, jump off mountains, etc. I think this makes more sense then arbitrarily giving us a wingsuit because Far Cry. Hope they keep this. Mainly because as cool as the wingsuit was they could never work out the physics right of running along and accidentally deploying and plowing into a tree (or worse NOT deploying when you wanted and plowing into the ground...) * They mention no towers (though we do see water towers that can be used to snipe from). Outposts look mostly to be replaced by small settlements - towns, ranches, lumberyards, etc. That's an interesting way to do it. I like that a lot. * They also say hunting (and fishing) is definately a thing. I'm not sure how they will make that a sensible game mechanic. Doing the 3 wolf pelts for a new wallet thing will seem even more ridiculous then it has in the past. Obviously this could be used to get meat for bait, but wonder if it will be any other crafting. Would be better if there was a mechanic to sell/trade pelts and meat towards upgrades or perhaps even just providing food to communities will increase goodwill (or whatever this games "Karma" is) and then that will unlock access to more stuff. Montana represents the most logical location yet for realistic hunting, but the least logical for crafting dead animals into gear (well then again maybe not LOL). Just curious to see if they address this or do the usual "fuck it - just suspend belief players" and make another shallow crafting system that can be finished off in an hour or so.

If you can drive a plane, why would you need a wingsuit? You say that about "the least logical for crafting dead animals into gear" because now you are in USA and is not necesary to craft, you can buy it of get it from a store

New video added, is in spanish but the important is the graphics. I dont know what kind of PC is, but assuming is last generation or ps4 you can see how it really looks like.
In that video you can see the flight fight and the fishing

Weirdly enough, the gameplay bit at www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeB9n1ThOeI&t=02m26s (2min:26s) seems to indicate you can swap a bat for another bat. This could indicate durability after all, unless it's a 'skin' thing. Also, fishing apparently gives you "Delicate Fish Meat". Like Sushi!

>seems to indicate you can swap a bat for another bat. Saw that also with the ARs. Guy had the same AR it was offering to swap to. Could be like the other Far Cry games where even if you have the gun it's offering the enemy version. Would be odd for melee weapons though. Could either be it's early gameplay and they still need to work stuff like that out or possibly like you say it's a different skinned bat. Game probably would consider those different weapons (i.e. like signature guns - maybe the bat he is starting with in the demo is considered a "signature baseball bat") Ultimately would make more sense for it to be durability rather than I am lugging around four freaking baseball bats, but... it's Far Cry >Delicate Fish Meat Huh. That's interesting. Not sure why the distinction... maybe you need "tough" meat for bait (though I reckon smelly fish would make better "bait")... hope it's not for brewing up potions. We've yet to see "leaf picking" yet in this game... or magic hypos. Would be very cool if cooking was a thing though. Fried fish restores X health. Doubt they would give us something with depth like that.

No Hurk so far, or harpoon gun..................that's a blessing (pun intended!). As much as I like GRW; the return to FP view was very welcome . Don't know about that blunt object thing (baseball bat). I worked in my State's prison system for a long time, and saw many blunt object attacks/assaults over the years...............sometimes they're not nearly the "one hit" attack games, TV, and such encourage us to think they are. I guess the same thing is true for edged weapons too though. GFX looked good at 1080P............be interesting to see them at 2K. Hey............I'm with ya JR, on the animal skins for holsters thing..................even dumber in a US setting than the one's in FC 3 & 4. Dog?!! BAH!! Cats are far more effective....................it's what we used in The Stan. If he'd had a few drinks his aim would be off a bit, otherwise he was no one to be bleeped with! Oh yea.............his name was AK (Afghan Kat). No need to have anyone bit, when you've got effective medium range fire support! Thanks for posting the vids, Predaator!
