Hey Kenze;
In addition to Bontainer's "How-To" - these pics of my file 'system' might help. The secret to successful file management is how you name your files, and more importantly - how you name your backup files. The Dunia2Tools.jpg shows the default release 179, build 115 - which is needed for most of FC4 file manipulation. It just unpacks to it's own directory anywhere on your machine.
The FC4 Mod Folder pic shows most of the mods downloaded from Nexus, whether Bontainer, Ceano, Jimbo, plus JRaven's original mods/versions as they were released. In "Old Versions" for e.g. the "Normal v0.18.1-8-0-1" folder contains the files per JR's last stable HardCore version - modded again by me so that there are no prompts. The right pane shows the renamed files created as I used them, and renamed so that I can remember them. Just copy/paste/rename and you're safe. Checking the date stamp will tell you which is the most recent.
The data_win32 pic shows the fat/dat files which I've tested, approximately what they contain; their sizes, and the dates and times when they were created. By comparing this data, one can keep track of just what one is doing, and where it's leading. When sitting at home on your pc, trying this or that - following this thread, or someone's instruction - it is often very difficult to keep a clear head when trying to control changes on the fly. There's no rigid Change Management System, working in the background, doing it for you, so it means you have to be creative, and find a way to do it which is meaningful to you. As long as you rename and copy - with good naming - you can always back out of "an issue", and - sooner or later - you will get on top of it, with a system which works.
Good luck - and remember - this is a hobby!
