Yes - I had two copies. I deleted the one which isn't being used. I expect that was a Ubi patch error, but the patch didn't remove the original. That wouldn't be surprising in the least ...

I wsn't joking about the quick "fix" for the "german" profile, Mike. Quick and dirty: just copy the GamerProfile.xml to the same folder as the original, and rename it "germanGamerProfile.xml". (Make sure the SubtitlesLanguage="german").
Edited 19:47 EST:
1). Go into your username \My Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4\3281115e-91f5-4ecd-beb4-77f45ca9562 folder, - (where the GamerProfile sits); open Notepad, create a new text file, then copy in the text below:
ECHO OFF ECHO. echo f | xcopy .\GamerProfile.xml GamerProfile.bak /y echo f | xcopy .\germanGamerProfile.xml GamerProfile.xml /y start /wait uplay://launch/420 :EOF exit
2). Save it as "FC4.bat" right where it is. 3). Rt-click on it and browse down to "send to" and select "Desktop" (i.e. this will create a shortcut on the desktop). 4). Go out to the Desktop and find the new shortcut: rt-click on it, and this time pick "Properties. 5). Roughly half-way down is the "Change Icon" button. 6). Click on it, and then browse to find the Far Cry 4 icon: it's in the Far Cry 4\bin folder, right below FarCry4.exe. 7). Click "Ok", and you'll find yourself with a nice new shortcut to launch the game with, that will automatically set the defaulty subtitles to "DEUTSCH".
You will still have to turn the subtitles off within the game, but we just have to compromise sometimes!
Dbl-clicking on it will make a backup of the original file, copy in the german file, and then start the game. Done.
That's it

Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaa! Now I feel old. I still like xcopy, though, Mike.. lots of switches, and reliable as a clock. Why have the overhead of any higher language? Do you ever use PowerShell at all?
