Hi folks,
So today I was able to take some initial peeks into the files.
I want to preface this by saying that doesn't mean I can or will mod the game. Merely I wanted a glimpse behind the curtain (can't help it... the modder in me has to know how things tick).
I was very surprised to find file listings for a large amount of content which is not in the game. This content appears to be either be content which is unreleased or placeholder for future content.
I'm really not ready to spoil anything... perhaps I won't ever... I'm kind of watching how modding progresses, how Ubisoft responds to it and of course just in general how Ubisoft does with post release community interaction (like the live events, map jams, etc.)
What I will say is it's very encouraging and strongly suggests that Ubisoft could give post launch events and support for as much as a year from launch. There are items marked as live events (including outfits labeled live event 1 up to live event 13. There are seasonal items for holidays. There are lots of additional possible weapons and outfits.
If you are asking where is XYZ from a prerelease trailer / playthrough or from a prior Far Cry game just know that it is very possible that particular item will be reappearing as a reward or item you can earn or purchase. Of course I cannot say that specifically an one thing will DEFINITELY come (or when), but I can say that there is a good chance it may.
So kudos to Ubisoft for finally offering the Far Cry franchise the support it deserves. I really hope they come through with all of this and make the fans and community happy.
And that's all I have to say about that.

>will be the Desert eagle and the remain weapons? Basically if anyone has been asking "where is this weapon" it's in the files. WHEN or HOW we will get them I have no idea. That's up to Ubisoft. PS - that pm I sent you before about the missing FC4 weapons - pretty much all of those guns I wrote about are in there plus more.

I understand that folks are interested in additional neat/cool/different weapons; locked away or even added. However after many, many hours with Ziggy's FC3, I've come to embrace the general concept of adding/having even more weapons isn't really the core to improving a vanilla Far Cry - it's the ability to balance/change what takes place to what the developers originally thought was a "cool" idea, but in actual game experience, is not.
And that's the real challenge facing modders today, given the changes in not only how the games are marketed/supported, but coded as well.

It would be virtually impossible to balance FC5. There is no end to gamebreaking options.
You can heli through most of the game and the AI NEVER uses AA against you (no idea why there are even flares)... you almost never see another heli or plane except a few scripted responses to RP bar triggers and random spawns.
You can send Jess Black + Peaches into any outpost and clear it undetected without even being in visible sight of it.
The homeopaths let you kill ANYTHING in one punch (including bullet sponges like heavies, bulls and bison)
The .50 snipers are as OP as they always have been. If anything the AI is far, far slower than any previous game. You can quite literally run circles around the AI and take them down at any point (since now we can do front takedowns). In fact you can run right up to them and punch them in the face while they are shooting you. Something you will experience in multiplayer as well if you try it. Dumbest thing I've ever seen.
The M-79 is still one handed and has loads of ammo. Just drive up and pop everyone. You probably won't even need a bandage unless you are playing hard and being slow on the draw.
The list goes on.
Most of the weapons are nearly carbon copies of one another with just different weapon models. There seems to be very little actual distinction among them. I suppose this is better(?!) than them being flat improvements over one another as in previous Far Cry games...
Far Cry 5 is clearly meant to hyper actualize the whole crazy explosive over the top action of the last few games. Evidenced by removing anything they deemed insignificant to fast paced play (hunting, skinning, crafting upgrades, looting animations, entertaining/interesting loot, elaborate takedown animations, healing animations, etc etc). Beyond the fishing minigame there's not much... substance to the actual individual components of the game. It's fun (and funny because of the heavy spawn system again) and different, but definately not better in my opinion.
EDIT - having bashed it a bit there I still am happy to see extensive support for the editor and post launch community events and the like. Something I think we should have seen since Far Cry 3.

Perhaps the feedback they got to the community support focus group awhile ago had some impact. Who knows.
Too bad the game design itself doesn't even come close to what was needed ...

Yea, a hard to come by SAM (i.e. Stinger) such as in GTA V; would have been a nice addition to combat The Pegi Air force.

Yea, a hard to come by SAM (i.e. Stinger) such as in GTA V; would have been a nice addition to combat The Pegi Air force. RAT4 + LOCKON upgrade I glitched the John Seed Boss battle with that combo. {Spoiler} As you know; we're supposed to engage in a manly air battle with 'ol John Seed, and shoot his *** down. I cut my gaming teeth on flight sims, but that was with throttle controller flight stick, and rudder. Definitely NOT a M/KB; I can't fly for **** with this rig. Doomsday would come and go for real before I ever beat him that way. Ssssooooooooo, I ejected in mid flight, popped my chute and equipped the 'ol Rat 4/scope combo and nailed his *** when he made a run on me. Sheesh! Lock on range on his plane was REAL short! His PROPELLER was looking GIGANTIC when I fired, but he flipped onto his back and shot under me! Whew! Had to shoot him on the ground after I landed to wrap it up.
