Watched a rebroadcast of a History Channel special on TV this PM; Extreme Airports or something like that. Anyway.......................they started talking about Lukla Airport in Nepal as the #1 EA...................and I thought, "jeez, that looks a lot like Kyrat International. DUH! Gee Flanker..........................where do you think Ubi modeled their game airport on? Ubi actually did a pretty good job with it; the same short uphill (if you're landing) single runway with the huge (supposedly about a 1000 meters in real life--YIKES!) drop off at the end. And the small control tower is pretty close to it's real counterpart too. The biggest difference between Lukla and KIA (wonder if Ubi intended the acronym pun?) is there are a lot more buildings all around the Lukla runway/service buildings/control tower; especially behind the CT, where in game, it's a narrow strip of land with a sharp drop off to the south. Ubi does do great game worlds! Anyone down for a real life re-enactment of the ATV run down the runway followed by a wing suit sail through the trees, and spectacular parachute landing to cheering crowds; next summer? Because, if you are........................I volunteer to film the whole thing for posterity.
