While I was wasting time.......................eeeeerrrrrr; I mean doing "research" on Youtube a week or so ago; watching Fallout 4 videos, the reviewer mentioned a game called State of Decay a couple of times in reference to that games base building mechanics/features, and any similarities it might have with FO4's upcoming base building feature.
Anyway..................read a couple reviews on SoD; then picked up a copy of Sod Year One Survival Edition (SoD + the Breakdown and Lifeline expansions--originally released in 2013 then updated to 1080P GFX for the 2015 YOSE) on Steam for $30.00. I don't care much for the single player campaign, but Breakdown turns out to be a free play extravaganza. You spawn into the game in a random location; IMMEDIATELY fight off two zombies then go to one of the marked locations on the map to hook up with that group of survivors and start building your base/community. A number of aspects of it remind me of the simulation features of the ARMA series. Very strict carrying weight limits, though you can make trips back and forth from resource stockpiles and your vehicle to store "piles 'o stuff" to drive back to base. Very restrictive running ability; based on the weight you're lugging with you. As you quickly become tired, your stamina falls off quickly--combine that with the weight/tiring mechanic and you can get yourself in a WHOLE lotta zombie trouble REAL quick (especially as some zombies are tough, fast, and not "shamblers").
And.................................then there the features I about the darn thing!
Anyone else played/playing it?
