Ivé Been Modding Seemingly 24/7 On My MOD Project "Fateful" ( Name Is Kinda Pending )
So Now, I Want To Share Some Of The Things I Find Very Handy, While Working On It.
The Obivous Is Always OverLooked!!!
Multi File Unpacking/Extracting:
Unpacking A Lot Of Files At Once Isn´t As Convenient, As We Would Like.
SO
Right Click Any, FCB File -> Propertise -> Change ( Opens With )
Now Search For Your MOD Tools Location, And Pick " Gibbed.Dunia2.ConvertXml.exe "
If You Tried This Before, Delete The Registry Entry, Real Simple.
Open Start meny, Seach: RegEdit -> Press Enter -> Press: F3 -> UnTick All Of It -> Tick KEYS -> Search: FileExts -> OK!
Scroll Down To .FCB, If It´s Not There, Then You Havn´t Tried; OPEN WITH, For This File Type Before.
Now You just Open The FCB, And The Converter Kicks In
DO NOTE!!! Max Unpack/Extracts Seems To Be Limited To 15 At A Time.
Editing XMLs.
Feels Bulky And Stupid In Notepad, So Try NotePad++, Simple And A FreeWare.
When You Open Notepad++ For The First Time.
Hit: Settings.
General -> Tick: Vertical
Auto-Compling -> Untick: Activate
Misc -> Untick: Automatic Indent
Close
Open View -> Symbols -> Remove Whatever, Tick mark, You may Find
Just To Name Few Pros.
NotePad++, Can Redo And Undo Everything You Have Done, No Limit, Since You Started Editing The File.
Save, Load Or Open A File However, Refreashes The History.
Tab Functions, Insteed Of 100s Of Windows Open
Easy on Screen; Save/Load Indicator, In form Of A Floppy, Blue ~ Saved, Red ~ Not Saved,
Active Tabs File Location, Is Located On The Window Title Bar, On The Top Fram of The Window
Always Make Notes!
You Would Think This Is Obvious And Otherwise Feels Easy To Remember.
Default Values And Everything You Changed, As You May Need That Info When Something Goes Wrong.
When Changing Something Else Using The Same Code Formats.
Also Note What Each Code Actually Does.
Example:
shpscataSubCategory1="189" BalckMarket Shop Tab
shpscataSubCategory1="187" Sidearms Shop Tab
shpscataSubCategory1="169" Weapon Shop Tab
shpscataSubCategory1="182" MAPs Shop Tab
Always Make Back-UPs!
Spliting A Mod Project Into parts, And Braking It Down Into Smaller Parts Helps You Maintain The MODS Areas Better.
Example:
Wanting To Change Prices, Requires The Change Within CDCB723F8C565609.maybe.rml
While Changing MAX Allowed Attachments Within ENtity Directory.
To Make It Easy And Handy To Know Were And How Things Got Wrong, You Should Split This MOD Up In At Least 2 Parts.
One For The Shop Aspects Of The MOD
Anothor Part For The Attachments MOD
Overall Backing Up Of The MOD, Either Areas Or As A Whole, IS ALWAYS A Good Idea.
If You have Found Any Good Stuff Worth Sharing, Do SO!, I Will TRY To Update This Thread As It MAY Grow
Cheers!!!
