DLing as I write. Hope it doesn't have the standard Ubi technical issues requiring 6-10 patches to fix! Anyone else playing, or planning on getting a copy?

I assume you've checked the ubi forums regarding the initial player reactions to what might be issues.
I didn't care for WD1 for a number of reasons (but mainly because it was not a FPS), so won't be acquiring it at this time; perhaps later, when it goes on sale, and the patches have been applied.

So far......................I'm quite pleasantly surprised! No real performance issues for me so far (You're correct about my "reconning" various forums PRIOR to purchase!). Runs at 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz on my rig with GFX all set on high or very high (excepting textures which I've set on Ultra [ultra texture pack installed]) at a mostly pegged 60FPS with an occasional dip to 53FPS! Game looks absolutely great, terrific game world design! Driving, fleeing, and eluding NOT featured nearly as much as in the original (definite plus as I DO NOT like driving games), and keyboard/mouse driving mechanics have been "slightly" improved. And..............it's not a shooter; though you can do as much blasting and blowing **** up as you like (enemy AI [gangs, police, security contractors etc] is VERY aggressive, and will actively pursue you on foot and in vehicles--and cheerfully hand your *** to you!). The police/security DO NOT issue warnings, tickets, or good citizen lectures! They have a ONE step Use of Force continuum! Shoot on sight for even minor infractions! Yikes! I've found a mix of stealth, trickery (gimmicks, drones, etc) and judicious gun play works best (usually!). No modding or modder support (are you surprised?). It's Ubi.........................what can you say. Did I mention the guard dogs? Those buggers will chase you down, knock you down and literally rip your throat out! I always play with dog treats in my pocket now! My fav is the ability to hack vehicles and make them accelerate at full throttle backwards, forwards, and turn L/R; THAT never gets old! The game world NPC behavioral pantheon is hilarious in many cases, farting, belching, puking, lovers quarrels, loud verbal disputes; often degenerating into pushing contests or outright fights. Beggars and citizens getting in your face and hassling you. NPC drivers running into each other or over pedestrians (sound familiar?). All right......................I gotta go get into more mischief!

I certainly don't mind a non-shooter; what I meant in this case was that the WD series isn't first person.
Great that it appears to be an improvement in all aspects from WD1.
A follow up if I may; referencing the ultra texture pack installed. Does it have an impact even thru you appear not to be displaying the game in HD? Far Cry Primal has the same package available, and I didn't install it as I am of the impression it's designed if your displaying in HD, that is, on a 4K screen.

You could be right about the ultra texes/4k issue. I hadn't thought about it that way. The game features a text display in the settings/GFX menu that IDs your GPU, it's VRAM and how much of that your current GFX settings will use. This feature listed my VRAM usage with VH texes (plus all other GFX settings) at around 3.5 GB (out of 6GB on my 980Ti). Switching from VH to Ultra texes jumped that usage to about 4.2 GB VRAM. I didn't notice any drop in frame rate as measured by FRAPS. My dispaly (TV) is tapped out at 1080p................so maybe if the Ultra texes are intended for 4k compatible systems I'm not getting any onscreen benefit. Guess I'll have to do a little research...............Thanks for ruining it for me! BTW: Three things I DON'T like about WD 2. There's no bleeping crouch or prone in game!! The only time you crouch is when you're clsoe enough to Ubi designated cover. Even worse..............there is no hip fire! Seriously! You can only fire your weapon by ADS! Aaaaggggghhhhh!!!!!!! No jump function either; you can only jump/climb when close enough to Ubi designated jumpable/climeable terrain/objects!! WTF? There can be a 4 foot gap between roof tops and your character (the agile parkour marvel) will run/sprint right off the edge and fall! Nice feature Ubi!

From what I gather, after doing some Googling as it pertains to FCP .... is that it's suppose to improve your display detail if the graphics card has enough memory. What you should experience is in theory much greater if you can display at 4K. Otherwise, based on examples demonstrated, it doesn't make you stand up and say "WOW" ...
The kind of detail shown appears not to "take your breath away" -- but the demos were not at 4K, which I assume would be truly noticeable - given examples of HD displays of other games.
So, no freedom to crouch in WD2, among other strange design decisions. Can't imagine what they were thinking as to why that would make "sense" ...
