Apparently, there was a Pre Order period I was unaware of; that started at 1100 PST today. Word on the Nvidia Hardware/1000 Series forum is the entire production run (so far) was sold out in an hour! Guess I'll be rockin' the 'ol 980Ti for a while longer..........probably not a bad idea to avoid potential early adopter bugs anyway. Also; pre-release "internet rumors" that current owners of 980Tis would be first in line for a special trad in offer were just that................rumors! Damn computers/and internet!

Holy crap... I thought paying $409 for the 1070 was excessive... I'm not making Ti money over here LOL Powerful card though. Using the site Willy links there it smokes this new card I just got (pretty much damn near twice as much rendering process, +4GB of faster VRAM, etc) Damn. Can't keep up with these things LOL Ah screw it, I'm too old to take advantage of 120+ FPS anyway

Can't keep up with these things LOL Ah screw it, I'm too old to take advantage of 120+ FPS anyway That 1070 is a really nice card; in my book, it's really the "bang for the buck" sweet spot in Nvidias 1000 series. Like you; Uncle Sam has been kind enough to sit on the 1080 Ti money for for me.................so I'm not really taking any cash outta my operating budget for it. Plus I'll still have the 980Ti (it's been a really great card; absolutely NP with it [so far!]) to sell to scrub off a little of the 1080Ti investment. Being that I didn't get in on the pre order...................I'll lay back 2 or 3 months to see what comes out on the second party market (the 980Ti is a PNY unit so I'll be partial to them); though I doubt much of anything will go below that $699. price point. The TDP on the 1080Ti (250W) is the same as my 980Ti; recommended PSU is 600W and mine is an 850W EVGA so it should just be a pretty straight plug 'n play; though I'm going to uninstall ALL my Nvidia stuff; reboot; then use a Digital Storm recommended driver scrubber prior to installing the new card and 1000 series drivers.

to much time on his hands needs to do more gameing
"It's not practical to cool a graphics card with LN2, but for professionals who like to push the boundaries in search of benchmarking records (as opposed to us regular folk who are simply looking for a free performance gain), practicality goes right out the window. So it goes with a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition that was overclocked to 2.481GHz on LN2 en route to a new 3DMark record."

I back ordered one. Waiting to here any status update from Newegg......................... Actually; cooling with LN2 isn't as impractical or expensive as many think. You can train pretty much any of the smaller monkey breeds to set next to your comp ans spray LN2 on the GPU with one of those lever operated spray bottles. The monkeys are cheap in Thailand, Indonesia, W. Africa, etc..............they'll eat pretty much anything we do, and they LOVE the way icicles form on the comp internals , so they'll do that for hours on end with no complaint! Now, if I can just get 'im to quit crapping on the rug! LN2 indeed! I thought I was state of the art by futzing around with the core and mem clocks via MSI's Afterburner!

It's all in the perspective Bro/Sis! That $700.00 USD price of entry back then looks positively "bargainish" compared to the $1200.00 USD (the lowest price I've seen posted at New Egg) for a RTX 2080 Ti [yes--I'm toying with the idea of upgrading ]! YIKES!!!!
