If I use this mod will I still have access to the north of Kyrat without completing the relevant missions?

Fabulous, Bontainer! Just got through Act One, and have now just bagged some Bharals, a few Piggies and some Sambars, so we're set to go after some money...
I like it very much. You have to remember where there are ammo and first-aid kit caches - like the one at Hanan's farm: every bullet counts; every green bar is precious. It's a sooper mod!
Well done, man - you've put a lot of work into it.

jimbo: No, but you can copy the __unknown into yout patch_hd_unpack of 20 6-1-1-1 and repack it. If you do not know how to do that I can make a seperate version with an open north on the Nexus Attachments:__UNKNOWN.zip (383.55 KB)

Many thanks, I will give it a try. Is it better to start a fresh game and can I use the JR save game file to start at Banapur?

Gave it a quick try in my existing game and access to the north is back to 10 seconds. Shop worked as you said but it looks like this is a non-starter for me, pity as I wanted to give it a try but I hate doing the missions just to gain entry to the north

You might want to look at including JR's "Out of Bounds" mod, Jimbo: I've copied the main piece of his instruction below:- I'm going to pop it into mine just to check it, but (as long as my Arena level stays at 12) I'd rather do the grind, as there's just SO much to experience in this game.

Hmmm ... didn't work.. Woke up in the store ok, but the screen kept fading to black and then fading back in again. At this moment i have no idea why, but we'll see later.

Edit - OK - Fixed. I had left off changing the data type as well as the number. You can now get 166 minutes by using JR's instructions.

PJ - How do you open that fcb file?

Read up on the Dunia tools if you haven't used them before: here is Bontainers DuniaTools 101. Use the Dunia2Tools /bin/ConvertBinaryObject.exe - per this pic. 1). L-click on it your fcb file, hold it, and then drag it over, dropping it onto the /bin/ConvertBinaryObject.exe. It will then create an xml file in the same folder as your original fcb file. 2). You can then edit this with Notepad, or other low-level ascii editor which will not add any extra characters into the file. This is very important. "Word" will not work!!! NotePad is ok: Good is XML NotePad 2007, as is NotePad++: Very good is Visual C#. 3). Once this is done and saved - drag the new xml back over onto the same Dunia2Tools /bin/ConvertBinaryObject.exe: it will now re-convert the xml back into an fcb, but with the name "converted" (or something like that) added into the original name. 4). Save the old one "somewhere", rename the new xml the same as the original was, place it back into the /patch_hd_unpack/game folder, re-pack it, put the two new patch_hd_unpack.dat and fat files back into the game, rename or save the two original patch_hd.fat and dat files "somewhere", rename these two new ones as patch_hd.fat and dat, and you're done. Run the game! I'm going to look at the warning message - see if I can't do something about it, but no promises: Bontainer and JR are the masters at this stuff. I'm just a grunt. Let us know how it goes. Best, pj

Thanks PJ. I have been trying to use that exe but my copy of Dunia2Tools must have corrupted - I just downloaded it again and it worked first time. I will let you know how I get on.

Many thanks to bontainer for this mod and to JR and PJ for the guidance which has enabled me to get back my 1000 minutes access to the north. Started a new game and it is very enjoyable but tough - finding enough med packs seems to be my main problem

I might suggest including a changelog, Bon, so there's something to go on when deciding whether to start a new game - or what "Start in Banapur" savegame to use if it warrants a new game. I haven't managed to get rid of the "All Skills Granted" (walk/crouch) used in the last game, so I had to start a new game using JR's Start file in order to test that slow crouch speed. Besides, I'm always curious to know "What's New!"
Tx,

There is a changelog under Changes
Version 012 Ajay will now move much faster, and he will have to - to be able to escape the Eeeeeeagles, that have returned. But, on the positive side, black eagle feathers are something to be coveted, just harvest them and you will see.
On the downside I deleted the 4th weapon slot, 3 weapons are ok IMHO, one holstered handgun, a carried rifle and a third weapon on the back. I also reduced the amount of grenades and mines and meat that can be carried.
Since I think that the carrying of weapons is something that can be done without much gear, you should now be able to carry all three weapons after the "Wolves Den" quest.
Version 011
I changed the availability of weapons, so that the Revolvers are now part of the handgun chain, that now starts with the Webley and ends with the crossbow.
I also integrated the open North from gamestart (after a fashion). Since we did not find the trigger opening the north we changed the out of bounds timer, giving the player 1000 Minutes instead of 10 seconds.
