Just delete the lines
<Binding input="CONTROL_A" action="press" signal="worldmap_fast_travel" priority="Menu"/> <Binding input="CONTROL_LEFT_MOUSE_BUTTON" action="release" signal="worldmap_fast_travel" priority="Menu"/>
in __UNKNOWN/misc/4881E4C778199500.XML
and you can`t fast travel anymore.
Funny enough this works without ConvertXml. Makes you think if all the XML files do work without converting them., e.g. without maybe.RML

Good catch I kept trying to disable it through the lua files. This is so much easier of a workaround. >Makes you think if all the XML files do work without converting them., e.g. without maybe.RML Sadly probably not as the game likely references those files directly by name and/or path. I think this was just an accidentally leftover. They probably meant to convert it, but never got around to it (or there was some tech reason like it was necessary for reading control schemes on another platform - xbox / ps). They sometimes do this with lua files as well leaving "debug" copies in the folders. I remember in FC3 they left an .xml version of the Oasis String for the longest time (even though the game didn't reference that particular file over the .bin version) before they finally deleted it one of the late patches. That happy little accident helped modders figure out how to decode the actual .bin file and build a decoder/encoder tool for ir. It's such a pita to reverse engineer everything. Wish they had given us a proper SDK. Ah well yadda yadda same old complaints

I converted all of the rml's back to xml files this morning, re-packed and the game worked just fine: while testing I completed the Sabal mission, burning the Kyra Tea Plantation. The patch_hd.dat went up by ~600K - nothing significant.

Amazing! Seems they have streamlined a few things since FC3.

Wait so you left out the .rmls and just included xmls and the game still overwrites the changes?
That's... amazing and fantastic if it works. Allows modders to keep clean readable files in the mods (along with all our notes comments using the <-- or // trick)

These are as used and tested yesterday after reading Bontainer's comment, JR:- The only thing I changed was that this morning I removed the zipped CDC file (for Bon) which I had inavertently left in the folder as it was packed - not that it made any difference, but it adds to the increased size a little. Interesting, isn't it. I've also tried a number of lua/luac configurations to get those into a useable condition, but none work thus far, (all resulting in the "drunken Ajay world"). The production folder: The "misc saves" folder, where the rml's were moved to, for safe keeping: ...and the actual prod patch_hd_unpack folder, showing the xml's only in the misc folder: Well, I don't know about "overwrites", but it certainly reads and uses to files, otherwise I expect it would bomb. That all being said - I'll re-do the experiment - open up the prod patch_hd.dat and check that folder in case I did something without noticing. I don't think so, but I have to test it - maybe you might confirm it, too? ATB, pj

I haven`t tested it, but it could be that it does not bomb, but just ignores the files. So have you tested if the ingame effects are as you ecpect them to be?

I just made a test folder, Bontainer; JR, transferred the ingame patch_hd to it, unpacked it and the only file in the misc folder is the original single xml - 4881E4C778199500.xml, so it does not compile the rest of the xml files. Damn! Got all excited over nothing. The story of my life.... PS... Looks like the Nexus site admins have their own Nightmare Mod......
