Anyone else pick up a copy? I bought and played Witcher 2 last fall; about the time FC4 was coming out. Really liked that one.....................so far TW 3 (The Wild Hunt) is proving even better; though the soft lock combat system is really pi**ing me off, by causing me to constantly wrestle the game software for control of my character during combat. Ggggggrrrrrr!!!!!!! I think Ubi could actually school RedProjekt on that aspect of gaming, and I'd KILL for a shotgun in game (LOL!), as long as is wasn't an Ubi FC shotgun!

I bought witcher 1 and 2 at steam sales, but never found the time, or inclination to wrap mymind around another game control thingie. Same with Elite:Dangerous. I try, but never get the feel that I really control the game....

I picked it up on release. Felt a bit guilty on that (although I did find a vendor with a discount so think it was just over $40 USD), but I so rarely pay full price for any game and (clearly) I have a thing for open world games Visually it's pretty stunning except the foliage which uses a modern billboard type system that I dislike. It looks great at a distance, but up close it's pants I guess they added support in the .ini to tweak it if you have a Titan or something or like to cook bacon on the top of your PC. I haven't really dinkered with it too much. (Yes I did look in it's files and yes I could mod it, but there's plenty of mods coming out for it already and I don't need another thing to distract me LOL) I really do like the vibe from it. I played it for a whole weekend straight and only managed to scratch the surface of the game (only made it to level 5 or 6). Put it away for now as I have way too much going on IRL. Hope to get back to it sometime soon. It's really quite good. Lock on is a little annoying, but I think once you get used to how the game expects you to play it's not too bad. The boss fights are truly epic. I like as a witcher that the game rewards you for prepping for a fight with the correct blade oils, spells, potions, etc. Also for what it's worth they are giving out 16 free DLC to all owners which I admire. Plus apparently the game has 16 hours (yes HOURS) of mocapped sex scenes. So there's that. I banged one witch so far and promptly had to kill her afterwards. *shrug* Geralt is a naughty witch hunter. I should probably make a bad joke about him being a "lady killer".

Yea, quite a few mods (especially Sweet FX recolors---so far; any of which prevent my game from starting) out at Nexus already. Bethesda and Red Projekt are my two favorite Devs, because they use good business sense, and give modders and modding the support they deserve. And the free DLC is the shiznit..................hope the rest of the industry takes notice on the RIGHT way to support their fans! I've quickly adopted the same fighting style I used in two [which I'd forgotten as it's been a bit since I played it last-----been wasting too much time on this game called Far Cry ]. Always approach to minimize the number of enemies in striking distance; hit the rascal/s with a sense/power to stun/stagger them. get in two quick slashes, dodge/roll back/sideways, dodge roll more if pursued, fire a bolt into their *** as harassment if possible, rinse and repeat. As they say...................sometimes I get the bear, and sometimes the bear gets me ! Thank the gaming gods for reload! LOL! I have to admit I'm struggling with the harder core RPG elements. I HATE how much time I spend fiddling with my inventory (What IS all this ****, and what the bleep is it for??!! I have broken rakes and fishnets in my inventory FFS!) Character leveling up multiplied by 5 fighting thingies, 5 alchemy thingies, 5 sense thingies, and 5 general thingies.............REALLY???!! And what's up with all these miniscule armor and sword upgrades? I suppose I'm lucky they haven't got me managing toilet upgrades.......................OOPS! Shouldn't have said that! Can't wait for the SDK to come out......I'm modding all the swords and armors to the same values......(differences for light, med, and heavy armors of course) so I can just pick one I like on appearance and just play the damn game. Did I mention I'd kill for a shotgun? And that horse is just plain CREEPY! I swear it spawns outta my *** when I whistle for it..........and he could at least TRY kicking that bear a few times, or drawing a wolf or two away instead of just watching me struggle! In game sex scenes in TW 2 weren't nearly that extensive; haven't run into any in TW 3 yet. I can take it or leave it anyway...........I've always considered sex a contact........not a spectator sport. Just sayin................... Hey! What program/s do you guys use to open .bundle files? TY!

See I'm the opposite - I don't mind all the fiddly bits. Comes from mispent teen years as a role playing geek I suppose. You bring up a good point though - the armor is a bit crappy looking in many cases. The lower level armor looks better than most of the middle game stuff. Haven't seen any of the high end armor so maybe later in the game Geralt doesn't look so much like a court douche while slaying monsters >Hey! What program/s do you guys use to open .bundle files? TY! Try this one: www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/14/?

Thanks for the link! DUH!!! Guess I didn't see that one while I was looking over what they've got. Funny it didn't come up in any of the searches I ran (via Bing) either.

I got an issue of Witcher 3 with my 960 I recently purchased.
Can it be played in 1st person? If so, I may try it out, otherwise I will give it to one of my sons or son-in-laws to play around with. Mine will be the pc version. I suppose since I haven't done a darn thing with it yet, that I could give them the numbers and they could add it to their steam or whatever to play it on their machines?
Sorry, two questions is what I am asking:
1. Is it first person playable, as Skyrim latest was? 2. If not, can I give the info to another for them to use in a different household on a different account than mine? I have not done anything in regards to the free game so far....
thanks for reading.

>Can it be played in 1st person? Sadly nope just third person (and sometimes hard to control when in 3P and in tight corners, fighting lots of baddies etc.) Think it might be just about as far from FPS as possible unfortunately If you dun like Assassin's Creed style games you might want to pass it on to the boys.

Well...................I've renamed my horse D***Head because of all the times he's just stood there neighing frantically, as I'm chased around him in circles by some REALLY pissed off monsters. At least he's good for cover; when there aren't any trees available. And DON'T be copying my unique, inventive fighting style either! Did I mention the ******* inventory management? Wheels That Fail!!!! I spend 80% of my time grocery shopping and cave crawling for gopher guts, horse nuts, or the highly sought Enhanced Nilfguardian Croquet Set, or some other alchemy BS. ******! I need an Administrative Assistant AND a tablet just to keep track of all this ****! LOL! PS: Don't forget to upgrade your saddlebags so you can have more stuff in your inventory.

I think I will pass it on to someone who enjoys watching themselves play, I think it has to do with perhaps the super-ego deal, ya know, where you are seeing how others see you and respond to that, kinda like adolescence....heh.. Then later, if you are lucky, I guess, you could give a sh%t about how others see you, and concentrate on being who you want to be, and pretty soon, you find out you are amongst those who like you for you. My .02usd.
Too many choices makes for confusion, I think, unless you have limitless time to spend perfecting spells and such.
Not to say I don't think there is a huge audience for those who like to have twenty ways to render a weapon against an opponent. In fact they make mice with like thirty or so buttons on the side just for such games. I like the four weapons limitation at once, with scopes and silencers within reasonable bounds. Or just a .308" caliber selective auto ACE 52 with a 2.5 power flip away scope magnifier and a Beretta model 92 9mm pistol with subsonic ammo and silencer.

While I prefer 1st person.....................playing in third doesn't really bother me. You do get a much wider perspective of things around you; which can be helpful when facing multiple, and/or very quick moving opponents. I really haven't been playing it at all since I got my comp back from repair.......................I should get back into it.
