FWIW, it appears that DL does recognize the key pad. Selected a few options, and the key binding display states "num 8" for example when selected for walking forward - versus the default key "w".

Guys, sorry for delay, busy weekend. I use a TKL (ten key less, no numberpad) keyboard. Don't know if DL key reassignments work on my rig, but Mike's do, so most must.
But will add that I use mouse 2 right click for forward movement and no problems. BTW, not a lefty, just weird key arrangement based on left hand four fingers resting on "m" key thru "/" keys and space as backup key. "<" and ">" are left and right movement and "/" is jump. k Weapons are in "h" thru "l", use key is ":", reload is """ key. "m" is alternate fire like usually mouse 2 is, and "n" key is crouch, "b" is prone. My whole family and all I build for get this setup with no complaints so far except have to reassign keys with new game. Heal is "Mouse Forward" and "Mouse Backward" is gernade. "R Alt" is melee. "z" and "x" are mines and C4.
I have color coding LED key-switches for red weapons, purple alternate weapon keys like reload, green for movement, orange for maps and info, yellow for communications. I had to resolder a LOT of LEDs to match my design, right before the darn RGB came out. Tho I have never regretted my choice of MaxKeyboard Blackbird keyboard TKL, Brown Cherry style, all blue standard leds. Have had no LED failures in 1 1/2 yrs. Or problems. Knock on weed.
ALWAYS too much info, sorry..... good eye workout tho. SPOILER ALERT PERHAPS!
Just for kicks, listen to this time waster: I spend about a week's worth of play last week getting together 3ea rarish KING Orange level upgrades (each KING has two ticks for each category of upgrade) for the Super Orange Skull Machete with like 1300 damage, 60 durability, 73 handling starting point and came up with a total of bout 2600 damage, 84 durability, and about 190 handling maximum rating, after applying Toxic Killer whatever Blueprint. Filled every square in chart. Was happy to have Alpha weapon at this point in game at least. Two hours later, accidently selected and used it to throw at Demolisher, killed instantly after, of course, by a spitter after falling and not immediately healing.
Re-spawned, raced back to claim my trophy weapon, couldn't find that sucker for anything, searched for hour, know about pools of liquid and moving bodies and using explosives to reveal missing weapons. I have found almost every OTHER weapon I have sorta lost after throwing at big enemies. UGH! Now gonna be more realistic with using the durability as the key for weapon development, since seems that is the best one to concentrate on, as once you get past 2000 damage or 120 handling they are good to go unless you have a dagger or scythe where handling is utmost. BTW, it seems that the prizes in cop cars and chests kinda age into better level prizes the longer they go without being opened, just an observation, as I found the King orange upgrades in ones I hadn't been to at all or for a long playing time before. EDIT PRIZES IN COP CARS AND VANS ONLY NEED A NIGHT PASSING TO GET TO WHEREEVER THEY ARE GONNA UPGRADE TO, I WAS MISTAKEN!

I think the term is "now that's taking it to the max!!"
Yup, trying to find a thrown weapon can at times be frustrating, and becomes even more so if it happened to have been one of your better weapons.

Willy, don't give up on game if ya can't get the hang of some of the moves like the videos show. I have yet been able to direct a zombie, but am doing quite well and happy regardless. Everyone adapts their style to the game, is best I have played, took me about two weeks to be sure I liked it, kept at it, cause Mike ain't never wrong, heh. He was right.
Once you get the gist of jumping up and around and outrunning the zombies and not getting cornered, it is easy.

Ain't it the truth, time can easily get away from you in a good game, and it does only seem like 5 or 10 min. "Gosh, look at the time, got to wrap this up and get to bed! ..."

In particular, the so-called hour before nightfall warning comes and the time acceleration makes night fall about ten minutes later, heh. With me being retired and living alone, I will play a bit, look up at the clock and realize 6 hours have gone by..... in real time....
Possible Game giveaway dealie, forgot what they call it..... next paragraph.
Oh, I kinda figured out how to make stores come up with different choices and fill those police and van trunks quicker by staying overnite more often than just when night falls, I guess it is kinda a cheat, but I yam not playing multiplayer, soooo..... I yam having more days and nights than most players lately, heh. Golly, hope I yam not aging quicker, at my age, I can't afford even a month.... heh.
PS: That is some sweet rig, there Willy, how ya like that GTX 980ti, I gots the envies.....

Well, I was wrong about letting a lot of time pass and "maturing" the prizes in trunks and vans of cop vehicles. Oh well. Just wait one night and it seems to be enough to mature the prize. THOUGH, seems that some I hadn't seen before had the orange KING upgrade in them, just coincidence I reckon....

I've gone back to replay DL (never finished it - never even got out of old town before) while I wait for Fallout 4 and some of the other great games to come out. As soon as I started playing again I immediately found things that were bugging me and OF COURSE I started digging around in the code. No promises but I'm probably looking at putting a small mod together in the next few days. Mostly focused on stealth, survival, loot and crafting. So far I've found some new outfits to unlock (leave it to me to dig out new stuff eh and I've added the following features/tweaks that I like from other popular mods (with my own twists of course) - * skip intro movies * look at watch key binding * zombies respond to more activity (footsteps, sounds, flashlight, gunshots, etc.) and are generally a little more aware of the player unless he moves slowly and carefully. * "medkits" (going to change the name properly to bandages) heal slowly over time instead of an insta-heal * lowered the amount of things that need to be lockpicked and make lockpicking just a little easier by increasing the sweet spot for locks. - I liked the lockpicking minigame at first and I see a use for it (to delay you around zombies), but after doing it over and over and over again it's just super annoying. * weapons can be repaired more times based on their color. I didn't like how you could only repair a lot of weapons 3 or 4 times when I wanted to keep upgrading and using them. Looking at doing some durability tuning to make frail items (nail boards, rusty pipes, etc) LESS durable and strong items (hammer, swords, etc.) MORE durable so it makes a little more sense. Possibly adding additional durability when mods or weapons are applied to weapons as well. * Looking at the various recipes and going to buff them up a bit so they take more and different kinds of crafting items. Hoping to add some new crafting items I've found meshs for including things like wire, glue, rags, etc. So molotov would be = alcohol + rag instead of using string - string to be used in firecrackers, etc. I just really want to make the recipes sound a little more "realistic" to me. Some of them are a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Also opens up the possibility for new crafting items (pipe bombs, etc) * Looking at how the loot and loot tables work. Have a ton of ideas for adding all kinds of new loot that is either a valuable item or an item you dissemble for parts (i.e. find a power drill in a tool chest and when you grab it you get some wire, electronics, scrap metal and a battery). Want to vary the kinds of things you come across. Would be great if containers could be permanently prevented from being relooted. but I don't think that's possible. * Hunger and thirst. Found a mod that worked with an older version of DL that had hunger and thirst in it which I think is great. I'm trying to contact the mod author to see if he would let me incorporate those aspects into my mod. Whew that's quite a lot. There's probably other things I've forgotten still. Despite being such a large list I hasten to add that I'm not looking to make a huge multiple release complete overhaul mod like hardcore and some of the other mods were. Just looking to make some adjustments that I would enjoy playing and that works with the latest 1.6.1 of Dying Light and then share it with the rest of you all (and Nexus) if you are interested. Right now it's "in development" meaning I've tinkered with it the last few evenings and have several of the above items working as intended, but i still have the big loot/crafting portion to do and test so it's still not anywhere near ready. Again though I'm not looking to spend a TON of time on it so an official release should be sometime "soon-ish".

Some really great ideas. One aspect which didn't make any sense to me in DL was that money still had value in Harran following the complete breakdown of society. Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to introduce a barter system as the means to acquire what you need from the "shop keepers". Just commenting ...

Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to introduce a barter system as the means to acquire what you need from the "shop keepers". Just commenting ... Yeah I know I thought that too (and wow the inflation $100 for some coffee - I thought Star Bucks was bad LOL - of course every luxury in a zombie apocalypse WOULD have good value, but booze is only worth half that and I'll take 2 bottles of whiskey over a bag of coffee beans LOL) I guess you could argue that the people in Harran think they will get through this somehow and are still keen to horde up cash when they find a way out (or the "government" saves the day - no spoilers please as I still have a long ways to go in the story, but I already suspect "bad things will happen" like they always do when the powers that be decide upon martial law and containment... and lets be honest Harran is pretty effed up.. ain't nobody livin' getting out of here - have you seen those virals, bombers and hazmat dudes?!? And) Theoretically one might be able to change the "dollars" to some kind of barter point system just by changing the $ graphic and text (although I've not even explored how/if graphics can be changed). Not sure I want to go to that trouble, but I do see your point about the realism aspect of it. Also pay phones that still hold actual money? Harran is old skool
