Hi all. I have FC1, FC3 and FC4 but was thinking about picking up FC2 (on sale at STEAM). I actually played some of the physical disc version years ago, but stopped mostly because of the unenjoyable "malaria feature."
First, is it even worth going back to FC2?
Second, is there any really good FC2 mods (still available) that you'd recommend?
Thanks, I appreciate any advice.

I enjoyed vanilla FC2 over vanilla FC3 & -4. The malaria feature I found easy to manage. Actually found it quite an addition to game play for its immersion value. As for mods; check here: www.moddb.com/games/far-cry-2/modsfor "Dylan's Far Cry 2 Realism Mod" I still have my CD version loaded up on the rig, and play it again once and awhile, to remind me how it's possible to have a straight forward super FPS game aimed more for adults than kids ... I've never loaded up Dylan's mod, so can't speak on that issue, but as to simply getting it via Steam, "yeah, in a heartbeat!"

Ok, thanks for the above response.
I have another question you might know...
STEAM version is $4.99 GOG version is $2.50
What is the difference between the STEAM version and the GOG.com version (besides that GOG is DRM free)?

I'm guessing here ... I know Steam's version includes the only DLC. Perhaps not the case with GOG? Uplay also offers FC2, but only with the DLC. So I've never gotten another copy even thru it's dirt cheap. With the original CD, there's also no DRM ...

I am sure both are the Fortunes version (containing DLC). I was wondering the difference in terms of code or mod compatibility... just wondering... I'm still getting the STEAM version.
Yeah, I got the CD around here somewhere. I'm just too lazy to dig it out... plus I want the DLC content.
