agreed Mike, i watched part 1 and 2, will wait for a few years till it comes down in price maybe 9.99 or less, when i look at the mini map i feel like a snail leaving a trail, not that impressive, the skill trees looked a bit overbearing with all the choices, but did like the more heaver foliage , just basically cut and paste of the FC4 animals and like he mentioned pulling out a lighted fire stick from the ole gut bag, sure thing lol

Yup; won't be acquiring this piece of software anytime soon, if at all. Will most likely drop in on the Ubi forums early on and just see how the actual PC release goes.
Ziggy's getting close to wrapping up his 4.0 cut of his FC3 mod, so that's great!!

Well a few take aways from my perspective -
Ubi still has a good head about animated scenes and interesting looking characters. The cinematics are pretty good, although we've seen the screen effects and camera sweeps a few too many times already (blurry vision as the hero awakes from a fall, etc.) so there's a heavy sense of "I've already seen this before even though I haven't" going on. Although the movie sections of the games have always been a strong point so... Who wants to bet that YOU CANNOT SKIP THE CINEMATICS?
Because why fix any glaring engine issues right?
Saw some hint text that basically said "oh yeah and there's karma events in this game too". They shoe-horned the weirdest shit into this game and left out the great stuff. Why keep karma style events (save the hostage, intervene in a skirmish between 2 groups, chase down the courier, etc)? I mean I guess it's more variety in the types of encounters you can have, but karma notifications and icons got old very quick in FC4.
Food heals you. I still hate that concept. Its so stupid to me, but whatever. I get you can't do bandages for a primal game (but yet you can do grappling hooks and owl bombs so I dunno). Did notice there was some kind of quick select menu to choose the type of "healing" (sic) item to use. I presume this replaces syringes.
Constant hunter vision. Oh yeah the most annoying syringe effect gets an ability you can use at will. And graphically it's even MORE overblown and ugly.
I won't even get into the stuff I've already bitched about (regurgitating animals, no melee blocking, etc.)
It sucks because I really could have gotten invested in this game. I have no issue with the setting or the tribe vs tribe concept. I'm even ok with limiting weapons and resources, but this thing is just... it's just what Bon said it's a fancy DLC reskin. It's not a hardcore survival simulator nor a fantasy fueled power trip... it's a hodge podge of crazy ideas bootstrapped to the existing FC4 engine.
Oh and why no coop? I don't even play coop, but come on that is the dumbest decision ever for this kind of a game.

agreed JR, it could have had a lot of potential on the drawing board, but i fear it will be the final primal death wail of the far cry series, sigh also on the health regeneration by eating something reminded me of dyinglight

I feel like 4 was a good direction from 3 especially technically with the engine and stuff. My dream game would be hard as nails difficult of FC2 using the FC4 engine, but with the crazy characters and tropical environment from FC3. Then just hire a GOOD writer to wrap up the ending and BOOM you have the best game this genre could offer. RE: health - yep you are totally right. Forgot about that in DL. Don't like it there either though honestly and was trying to find a way to turn off health regen for food in that one. Why are games so afraid to include hunger and thirst these days? They could make them optional according to difficulty or whatever... sigh kids these days. I remember when I had to scale the virtual mountain BOTH ways just to get to the abandoned school building to rescue the hostages from the digital pirates. Now they're all about the gyrocopters and the fast travel...

Why did they think that anyone would want to listen to complete gibberish all through the game and have to keep reading subtitles? Watched a few minutes and he was hunting goats with a bow and arrow - now that is a new idea - must have taken hours to think of that option

My very first impression as the game was fired up and the opening cut scene was over - Gawd, this is boring. We've all seen this before, and it's even worst this time - what with this "hunter instinct" feature now added.
And speaking of language - I recall one of the later Splinter Cell games had an option for the enemy NPCs to speak in their native tongue - that I found cool, as you, as the Sam, had to be more on your toes regarding what the NPCs might be doing next.
