They are binhash numbers (raw code). You need a converter tool. I used to have one by RaZoR-FINN that I would try various types to figure out what the hell was what. Dunno where that went... most hex editors usually have search functions or conversion tools you can try. Basically any number you find that is listed as "binhash" code could be Float, Integer, Byte, Binary, Vector, etc. etc. Hell sometimes they are even HEX that can be converted to ASCII.
Anyway ignore all that and see the third post on that thread explains how to manually switch it to Float32 and input the numbers as you want them to be.

>However, I found the concept of signature weapons being readily available a little unfair.
No worries. I asked because if you unpack that and ditch the CEF file it will restore signature weapon requirements (unfortunately it will also restore skill requirements as well - that file contains a multitude of different things). The shop file and associated files will give you the attachments (theres like a HUD file that dictates the right positioning for the attachments on the small HUD gun image... possible some other files that sort out ID numbers for attachments and guns/bows I restored or added like the ACE and Shangra-La bow)
>Also, this can be used as a reference for future mod developers.
Absolutely. I realize information became spotty after I grew tired of updating Far Cry mods (IRL and Ubi's insistence at breaking mods with every update just wore me out and I started modding other games instead... well that and modders get bored of working on the same things for years on end)

Unfortunately I never detailed skills. I was still working out what all the fields were for. They are in a large block inside the CEF file. I'll try to see if I can find any notes on them, but tbh that is old, old stuff (before multiple computer hard drive crashes) that I never properly notated so chances are slim I still have the particulars...

No worries. Out of curiosity does this mod still work: www.nexusmods.com/farcry4/mods/26/?I realize there may be elements of it that you don't want (unlocked skills, unlocked signature weapons, unlocked North at start), but the attachments part should be the same. If it works it might not be too hard to add a version that only contains the attachments. Also I'm guess that the one that definitely doesn't work for you is this one: www.nexusmods.com/farcry4/mods/9?tab=files(I did *TRY* to go back and update these old mods at one point... dunno why Ubisoft felt the need to go back and update the old game yet again just to break everything )

#3 was via a lua script. Can't remember which one, but if you unpack the mod it will likely be one of the only scripts in there. It contained an obvious command like UnlockNorth() or something. Not sure if that trick still works with the latest update. #2 and #4 is mostly done through the shop file. Just go through each gun entry and remove any unlock requirements (towers and MIS which are mission numbers). For attachments go through see if it was disabled by giving it a buy and sell price of "-1". Some attachments were hand added back in by coping and pasting HTML sections from other guns though they might have required specific ID numbers or somesuch. Your best bet is again unpacking my old mod and converting the shop file so you can compare it against the latest version (particularly if you want to copy and paste missing attachments). That shop file is pretty long and one section is for the base game and an nearly identical copy appears in it for Yeti (such a weird way for Ubisoft to implement that *sigh*) #1 and requirements for signature weapons were inside the notorious "CEF" file. I had to uncover where the skills and signature weapons were in there and then figure out which lines were the requirements. For skills it was usually a MIS line like the guns in the shop file. For signature weapons it was a bit more complex. Each signature weapon was hidden amongst all the rewards you are given for completing each mission/sidequest. Once I found them though I believe it was as easy as changing the required number of something to zero. So if it was 2 propaganda posters I think you can simply zero out the 2 (so in essence making it zero propaganda posters). Searching the forums for shop file and CEF file will probably get you started on finding those files and converting them. If I have time (and remember) I'll try to isolate everything a bit better and reply on this thread... UPDATE: The Open World mod contains the LUA script file I'm sure (so try unpacking it): www.nexusmods.com/farcry4/mods/26/?CEF file is/was __UNKNOWN\game\CEF2050C2780F74C.fcb but Steve64b correctly identified it as generated\nomadobjecttemplates_rt.fcb Discussion found here = farcrymods.freeforums.net/thread/394/cef-fileShop file is/was _UNKNOWN\misc\CDCB723F8C565609.maybe.rml More in depth details about it and modding it found here = farcrymods.freeforums.net/thread/20/modding-106-mod-shop-file

Yeah sadly most of my mods are dead in the water now. I tried (several times) to go back to a mega mod for FC4 (Mountains of Madness), but I keep having problems with the game locking up and file corruption so I've shelved it all and moved on to other games. I might circle back to it, but no idea when I'll have the time or inclination to do so If they just would have given official mod support to begin with *sigh*

To honor Notre Dame (which recently suffered a terrible fire) Ubisoft is giving away copies of Assassin's Creed Unity*. If you don't own this AC title you can claim it from the link below from Apr 17, 2019 to Apr 25, 2019. It will be permanently added to your UPlay account: register.ubisoft.com/acu-notredame-giveaway/en-US* They've also stated they are donating 500,000 euros to aid in the restoration and that massive amounts of digital imagery they captured for AC Unity will be available to assist in the restoration.

So I decided to give New Dawn a shot. Anyone else try it yet?
In my opinion it plays out better than FC5 (no more kidnappings and you can even skip through all the dialog and cut scenes - a Far Cry first!), but it's still a "Far Cry" (sic) than the older games (2/3/4)
For one thing it's not terribly long unless you drag it out. Fortunately you can control when you want to push the story forward, but this leads to some very weird storytelling at times ("we're gonna burn your base to the ground! ... just let us know when you want us to do that ok?"). Still it's much better than 5 was about dragging you through the campaign too quickly.
The health bars and weapon levels takes a bit of getting used to. I have mixed opinions on those. On the one hand it makes bullet sponge enemies very common and obvious right from the beginning of the game... on the other hand it gives some kind of balance to the weapons unlike FC5 where every weapon was basically a copy of every other weapon. The weapons all look very cool to me as well. I like the junkyard look to all of them.
The setting is well done. Even the colorful flowers don't bother me very much. They did a really good job in making a post apocalyptic Hope County. It has a kind of overgrown feel like the movie "I Am Legend" where the city is overgrown with wildlife running through it. It's actually very cool in my opinion.
The characters are unfortunately rather meh. The Highwaymen are nothing more than reskinned Pirates from FC3 and the evil Twins are kind of annoying in an eye rolling fashion. They don't come off as sinister, but rather very bland and obvious in their motives and mannerisms. The game tries to come off as a spiritual successor to Far Cry 3, but it fails miserably. I don't think anyone has noticed or mentioned, but the Highwaymen use an eye symbol on their flags and gear that's very reminiscent of the Pirates from Rook Island. Also your initial introduction is VERY similar to Jason's beginning experience with Vaas and the Pirates. The Highwaymen even listen to some songs that sound a lot like the music from Far Cry 3 (though it may be they used the same musicians - again that might be calculated).
The NPCs similarly aren't very fleshed out. I'm glad not everyone died from the last game, but tbh I wasn't terribly emotionally invested in them in FC5 and even less so now. The new NPCs are mostly TERRIBLE. They have incredibly dumb and annoying voice lines. Only a handful are tolerable. Ubisoft really is lacking in the writing department.
Overall I think it's worth playing but I do regret not waiting for it to hit around a $20.00 price point. I feel like Primal and New Dawn are on about the same level in terms of content and value (though both offer completely different and unique play experiences).
What do you guys think?

AC Odyssey and some other pretty great price cuts if anyone is looking to pick up some extra Christmas gifts for themselves LOL www.greenmangaming.com/games/assassins-creed-odyssey-pc/Use code GMG12 for an extra 12% off. I went ahead and bought it since the total price came down to $26.40 which is the lowest I've seen it yet EDIT: Also the GMG12 code looks like it works with any games on sale so you could also (or instead) pick up for example: * Assassin's Creed Odyssey Deluxe Edition for $35.20 * Assassin's Creed Origins Deluxe Edition for $20.33 * Far Cry 5 for $21.12 * Far Cry 5 Season Pass for $10.56 (includes Far Cry 3) * Far Cry 4 Gold for $10.56 * Far Cry Primal for $14.96 * Far Cry Blood Dragon for $5.28 * Ghost Recon Wildlands for $15.40 or Gold for $24.64 etc. Pretty good deals for Ubisoft games though they do frequently go on sale... still this is as low as I have seen some drop due to the extra -12% off Also some Non-Ubi games with good(ish) price points: * PREY for $12.54 * PREY Mooncrash for $8.36 * Shadow of the Tomb Raider for $23.76 or Croft Edition for $35.64 * Just Cause 4 for $38.01 * X-COM 2 for $11.88 or Collection for $31.68 (includes all the DLC including War of the Chosen and the new Tactical Legacy pack) * Middle-earth: Shadow of War for $13.46 or Definitive Edition for $28.50 * Civ VI for $11.88 or Gold Edition for $31.68 * GTA V for $12.54 Lots of other stuff on sale as well... didn't even look at the Dying Light or Sniper Ghost 3 prices, etc. I'm sure all of the games we typically discuss here are on sale as well.

No problem.
Many mods can be combined but when it comes to adding new weapons it's a lot trickier. The game looks for specific weapon IDs and these IDs have to be specified in more than one file (hence why I don't remember exactly what and where I adjusted things for the bow mod). If two weapons have conflicting IDs it can cause crashes or freezes. Also the newer patches had a larger shop file and we've found problems with using an older modified shop file with the newer patches (this occurred after they added valley of the yeti - for some reason Ubi decided it was "better" to add duplicates of nearly every weapon just for valley of the yeti into the shop file AND they added new designations for yeti shops and yeti sherpas to every item/weapon... which makes no sense to me... anyway it's complicated, but the point is mixing old and new mods that alter the shop and/or add new weapons can cause problems - they have to be hand adjusted in the files and there are literally hundreds of lines to adjust... which is why many old mods - at least mine - have never been properly updated).
I'll try to find time to look at it, but no promises as IRL stuff takes precedence (and clearly I'm dragging my feet about digging through that old code... I don't have a lot of hair left you know)

Yeah I thought the bayonet thing was pretty cool... and despite the Fortnite colors I really do like the rusty post apocalyptic landscape. I'm just not expecting this game to have any actual challenge The buzzsaw is a bit silly since it goes through multiple opponents AND bounces around. Still I like the makeshift look of the weapons. My main gripe though is it's pretty clear they cut a LOT out of the game (no MP, no editor, etc) and I suspect that a lot more will be found to be missing as more of the game is revealed (I'm assuming no fishing, no wingsuit, no air vehicles the player can use, no grappling hook, less guns for hire, less main story missions, etc.) overall I expect this game to be about 60%-70% the size and content of Far Cry 5.

I confess it's been a very long time since I looked at the bow mod. I'll have to try and see if I can puzzle out what the deal is with it (or if I can convert it to the latest patch). I honestly don't remember what all I did inside it...
